Measuring guide

Please enter the frame overall size including any cill and/or frame extensions (if required). We recommend deducting 10mm from the overall size for clearance/ease of installation.
How do I measure? Firstly measure the width in millimetres and then the height using a tape measure. Enter overall height including existing sill unless it is NOT going to be replaced, I.E. A concrete sill is present All frames are viewed from the outside.

Extras information boxes

Trickle vent – A trickle vent in your door or window will give provide ventilation to the property. Air circulation is important in order to reduce moisture in the air and helps reduce condensation and mould.

On an opening window, the vent will be placed into the opening window sash, however if the window is fixed, it will be fitted into a deep outer frame at the top. If used ensure there is suitable clearance for the vent control.

Please note: If you’re installing into a new build it’s now compulsory by law to have trickle vents fitted to all doors and windows.

Fixing kit

Our fixing kits are recommended for all:

  • 10x Concrete Screws (no raw plugs required!)
  • 5x Baypole Screws (70mm)
  • 30x Assorted Packers (1-6mm)
  • 2x Low modulus silicone*

A 6mm drill bit size is required to pilot for the concrete screws. Other
adhesives may be required ie expanding foam. Depending on the
property, Pvc architrave trims may also be required.

Thermal upgrade

All of our UPVC frames are A rated as standard which achieves a fantastic WER (window energy rating). The thermal upgrade enhances the thermal efficiency of your glass and thereby achieves an A+ rating on the BFRC chart.

This will result in:

  • Lower energy bills
  • Reduced convention currents and thereby heat loss
  • Enhanced energy transfer- Warmer winters and cooler summers

Triple glazing

All of our UPVC frames are A rated as standard which achieves a fantastic WER (window energy rating). The triple glazing option enhances the thermal efficiency of your glass and thereby achieves an A++ rating on the BFRC chart.

Triple glazing provides:

  • Lower energy bills
  • Reduced convention currents and thereby heat loss
  • Enhanced energy transfer- Warmer winters and cooler summers
  • Reduced sound transfer (recommended for properties in close proximity to busy roads, railways etc).
  • Extra security with stronger resistance to breakage.

Toughened glass

Our toughened glass is up to 5 times as strong as ordinary glass. Toughened safety glass should be fitted in all windows or glazed areas that are lower than 800mm from the floor level as a legal requirement.

It is also a legal requirement that any glass adjoining a door should be toughened glass for enhanced levels of security and safety.

Fire Escape

Fire escape or egress hinges will allow a side hung window to open fully at a 90 degree angle as shown.

The width of the opener needs to be at least 600mm wide to comply with building regulations. A FIRE ESCAPE MUST BE USED IN A HABITABLE ROOM.

If you are unsure as to whether or not your chosen window style will conform to a fire escape window, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Easy Clean

An easy clean hinge upgrade will allow the sash of the window to partially slide away from the outer frame, giving you access to the external pane of glass for cleaning purposes.

Integral blinds

Stylish and sleek looking integrated blinds by “ScreenLine” -eliminating the need for cleaning.

An enclosed slat raising, lowering and tilting function, permanently sealed between the double glazed unit – in this dust free environment, the blinds require no cleaning, always appear new and are protected from damage unlike external blinds.

Please NOTE: Sliding control supplied.

Window Restrictor

A window restrictor acts as a safety mechanism restricting the opening of the window to 100mm. They are commonly implemented as child restrictors for children safety, especially at greater heights. They can be released by pushing back the spring loaded catch.

Sill

Our cills are 30mm high and it’s function is to drain water away from the base of the frame. Please note: the cill must be included in the overall height of the frame. For more info see our measuring guide at the top of this page.

Frame Add-ons

A frame extender allows you to increase the thickness of the frame. Useful for properties with deep plaster, render or tiles. 10mm, 20mm and 50mm extensions are available.

Please note: if you require any extensions, these need to be included in the overall dimensions.
